Reunions for 2009
Class of 1989
The Class of 1989 is planning a reunion for the weekend of August 28-30, 2009. On Friday, August 28 we will join fellow alumni at the Alumni Association annual tailgate party before the football game. The tailgate party is held at the alumni tent directly below James R. France Stadium. There are no plans set for Saturday or Sunday but further details will follow when available.
Our main method of communicating reunion information will be via e-mail. Please forward your e-mail address and e-mail addresses for fellow classmates to Todd Lindeman at tlindeman@neo.rr.com.
Reunions for 2007
Class of 1982 - 25 Year Reunion recap
Furnished by Kim Lappin, Todd McKenney, Linda Aleman and Harold Noleff
The Class of 1982 had a fab time at their 25th reunion! The events started with the Alumni Pre-Game Tailgate Party on Friday, August 24th, followed by a bonfire hosted by Kim (Long) Lappin in which 25-30 people showed up. We talked until wee hours of the morning & a handful of us even went to the Tavern to continue catching up! It was great to see everyone, and Friday gave us a chance to mingle and catch up on old times.
Our reunion was held Saturday at Menches Brothers Restaurant at Canal Park and was hosted by Linda (Menches) Aleman. The place looked fabulous and the food was awesome! There were about 70-75 people in attendance. We had hoped for a better turnout since many classmates have returned back to the area, but we still had a wonderful time and are hopeful for a better turnout for our 30th. We had several people fly in Friday night right before the game and left early on Sunday; Linda Cannady, Jamie Greene, Russ Johnson, Karen Francis, Sheri Heath and Kim Lappin, to name a few, traveled from out of state to attend and we are so glad they could make it! The farthest traveler seemed to be Linda Canady from Texas.
Two of our classmates are soon to be grandmothers! We really did have a wonderful time and laughed most of the evening! Some of us can't see and some of us can't hear—and shall remain nameless—but it made for some funny happenings throughout the weekend! We made many more memories and it was like we picked up right where we left off. It rekindled a lot of old friendships and many of us are still staying in touch!
We would like to encourage those of you who have not utilized the alumni website to do so, and add your contact info to the classmate list so we can stay in touch and have a better turnout for the next reunion. We look forward to 2012 for our 30-Year Reunion, and are so grateful to the Alumni Assn. for all of their hard work!

Class of 1987 - 20-Year Reunion recap
Furnished by Allie (Elias) Anenson
The reunion weekend, Aug. 24-26, was so fun. Everything went without a hitch and we heard so many compliments. Here’s the summary of events: Friday night, football tailgate party with the Alumni—a great turnout. Some classmates went to the game; some played in the alumni band; and some went to Dietz’s Landing where Bill Elias (class of ’85) played a solo/acoustic show. It was awesome—another great turnout at Dietz’s.
Saturday night: 356 Fighter Group Restaurant. Buffet style dinner, really good food!! Not a bad turnout, 80 people (a little disappointing), but still well worth it.
Sunday afternoon: Picnic at Nolley Pavilion. Just a few classmates came, but it was a lot of fun to sit and visit with them!!!
Dale Mahoney came from Idaho; Eric Myers came from Minnesota; Deb Pavlich, Renee Gardner Duddy, John Kavanshansky and Mark Johnson all came from Florida. The one comment we heard most was we need to do this more often. We’re thinking next summer about emailing those classmates and once again just meeting somewhere, like at Dietz’s. Nobody wants to wait another 10 years to see each other again!!
What was neat about Friday night is there were some other people there from other MHS classes. I’m not sure of all the years accounted for, but that was really fun visiting with others. So when we do it again next summer/fall, we will also include and open it up to everyone!!
Class of 1997 - 10-Year Reunion recap
Furnished by Kristy (Eckert) Wagner
The MHS Class of ’97 celebrated our 10-year reunion on Saturday, August 25 at The Tangier in Akron, with nearly 50 people there to eat, drink, hug, visit, chat, look through old yearbooks and show lots of kid pictures. We were supposed to be at the restaurant from 7 to 10 p.m., and ended up staying until they finally turned the lights up and kindly kicked us out at 11:30 — the sign of a good party, I hope.
We joked all night that everyone was impressed with how great everyone else looked — especially all of our ladies with kids. The spouses/significant others who came were friendly and fabulous. It was so much fun to catch up with people and watch people catch up with each other.
I took my camera with the best intentions of taking pictures, but got so caught up in chatting that it was over before I took a single shot. (This is a shameless plea to anyone in my class who did actually take photos — I’d love to see some of them! My mom wants to kill me for not taking any.)
As far as fun facts go, here’s some good “by the numbers” stuff I learned about my classmates. (Of course, it’s not like I was carrying a notebook. So for anyone left out, my sincerest apologies for either not knowing or forgetting. But for what it’s worth…)
- 1 doctor: Pamela Richardson, who is a math professor at Westminster College
- 1 classmate who ran the Anchorage, Alaska marathon: Jennifer Seeley
- 1 classmate who owns his own real estate company: Garland Ward
- 2 sets of MHS high school sweethearts who are married: Jen King & Kyle Burns, and Angel & Andy Kusmits
- 3 classmates of ours now teach at Coventry: Jen King, Jen Kunselman & Adam Calvin
- 4 classmates or classmates’ husbands are currently serving in the military: Jeff Wilt, Kyle Thomas, Nick Thompson & Joe Beitko (Melissa Mijalkovic’s husband)
- 4 pregnant women at the reunion: Stevie Smith, Tara Robinson, Sara Gregg & Melissa Mijalkovic
As for the little ones, we’ve collectively got a slew of ‘em. Several people brought their adorable kids to Friday night’s football game—where we got together at the alumni tent—or brought photos to the dinner on Saturday. Thanks to everyone who helped organize both the Friday and Saturday events, and thanks to everyone who showed up. It was truly a pleasure catching up. I’m already looking forward to 20 years…
